What is Environment & Conservation with Lewka

Lewka Impact creates meaningful opportunities for visitors, partners and communities to learn, contribute and connect through respectful, community-led environmental activities.
Our Environment & Conservation activities bring people closer to the natural world while supporting practical, locally relevant action.
Depending on the location, season and community partner, experiences may include learning about conservation, joining a supervised clean-up, supporting tree-growing activities, visiting environmental projects or meeting people working to protect Kenya’s natural resources.
These are not “voluntourism” activities designed only for photographs. Lewka aims to work with trusted local partners and communities so that activities are useful, respectful and connected to real local priorities.
Activities May Include
Planting Trees At Ngong Forest
Join supervised tree-growing or community greening activities where they are locally appropriate. Learn why the right tree, right place and ongoing care matter more than simply planting a tree.
Activities may include preparing planting areas, learning about native or suitable species, watering, mulching and supporting school, community or environmental partner gardens.
Community Clean up
Take part in organised clean-up activities in agreed public spaces, neighbourhoods, waterways or community areas.
These activities can include waste sorting, awareness conversations and learning about the importance of reducing, reusing and disposing of waste responsibly.
Conservation Learning Visit
Visit conservation organisations, community projects, farms, forests, environmental centres or wildlife-focused initiatives to learn directly from people doing the work.
You may learn about habitat protection, human–wildlife coexistence, water conservation, sustainable farming, waste management or community conservation.
Wildlife & Habitat Awareness
Kenya’s wildlife is one of its greatest natural treasures. Through guided learning and responsible visits, guests can better understand the relationship between wildlife, land, tourism and local communities.
Activities focus on awareness and respect. Lewka does not support harmful wildlife interactions, animal handling for entertainment or activities that compromise animal welfare.
Sustainanable Living & Local Skills
Learn practical ideas that can support more sustainable everyday living, such as kitchen gardening, composting, water-saving, recycling, eco-friendly crafts or sustainable food production.
These activities may be especially valuable when combined with youth groups, women’s groups, schools or community partners.
